You may be familiar with TED, the provider of “riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world.” Many of us draw inspiration from watching TED Talks online—only imagining the energy in the room when the speaker delivered his or her message to a live audience.

On Friday, November 9, TEDx Naperville drew 300 participants, including Deb Hornell. As Deb entered the conference venue, a Chicago Tribune reporter pulled her aside and asked for a few comments. The full article is online in the publication’s Naperville Local section. Here’s a brief excerpt:

Today’s digital age has made it easier than ever to share ideas about technology, entertainment and design. Since 1984, the TED conference and local events called TEDx have brought together innovators who are given the opportunity to explain those ideas in 18 minutes. … Attendees benefit by making new networking contacts, finding job leads and gathering inspiration for their own projects. …

Deb Hornell of Glen Ellyn attended TEDx Naperville because she is self-publishing a book. “I love the TED talks that can be seen on-line and how they grab people and the audience.”
